The Melbourne Rebels Rugby Union - The Rebels - are responsible for creating, developing and managing the growth of both amateur and professional Rugby Union in Victoria. The Rebels are celebrating 10 years this year, and competes in the international Super Rugby tournament involving teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. We are a Club that values professionalism, commitment, hard work and love for each other. We have an excellent opportunity for a Physiotherapist.

Reporting to the Head Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for:
  • acute player injury assessment, treatment and management,
  • players’ training readiness management,
  • daily screening and injury surveillance,
  • manual treatment of players,
  • rehabilitation and prehabilitation programs – short and long term,
  • management of smartabase,
  • working in a supporting role on Match Days.
The successful candidate will have a relevant degree, and ideally some experience within an elite professional sports team (contact sport preferable). You will have experience using smartabase or a similar database system, and GPS technology You will have exceptional diagnostic ability, and will contribute to reduced soft tissue attrition rates, health assessments, and development of rehabilitation protocols. Experience in rehabilitation design and implementation across broad range of acute and long-term injuries . The successful candidate will also be required to develop and sustain strong collaborative working relationships with staff in the ‘on-field’ Rugby department and Rugby Australia. As a key member of the Medical and High Performance Team, you will be good team member who can exchange ideas and empathise with problems of others in the team and a strong commitment to continuing professional development.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate assertive and pragmatic communication skills, excellent time management, planning skills and an ability to adapt to the specific needs of the various situations.
