Academy Physiotherapist
Salary - Up to £26,000 per annum depending on qualifications and experience 
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a full-time Academy Physiotherapist to join the Academy’s Sport Science & Medicine Department.
Reporting to the Head of Academy Physiotherapy, the post holder will be required to prepare, manage and oversee medical care predominantly in the Professional Development Phase (U18 – U23), including pitch side cover and all off-the-field treatment and rehabilitation.
As such, we are seeking a committed, enthusiastic individual with the desire to develop their experience within a professional team sports environment.
Key Duties include:
Ensuring high standards of medical support for all Academy players; being flexible to work with any Academy age group across all Phases as directed by the Head of Academy Physiotherapy.
Assess, treat, and rehabilitate any injuries/conditions that Academy players may present with in line with the department philosophy; develop and implement rehabilitation and load management programmes individualised to paediatric players.
Follow the ‘one club’ philosophy of the medical department; involve the Academy Physiotherapy Team and the First team medical staff in the management of all players; support Academy and First Team staff as required.
Work closely with the Coaching Staff and Sports Science staff to ensure appropriate physical development/rehabilitation of Academy players; attend Phase meetings to report/discuss current medical situation and player availability; attend case study meetings.
Provide medical input for both training sessions and matches in the Professional Development Phase (U18 – U23) as directed by the Head of Academy Physiotherapy.
Liaising with external healthcare professionals, as and when required under the guidance of the Head of Academy Physiotherapy, to better treat and assess Academy player’s situations or needs; to inform insurance immediately of any Academy player undergoing further investigations as directed by the Head of Academy Physiotherapy.
Candidate Specification
BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
Current CSP/HCPC membership.
Up-to-date FA Level 5 ATMMiF qualification.
Current FA Safeguarding Certificate.
Advanced DBS Check.
Post graduate qualification within sport and exercise medicine or a related field of study.
Previous experience of working with elite level youth athletes and treating sporting injuries.
Able to assess injury.
Experience of planning and delivering treatment & rehabilitation of sports injuries.
Good understanding of growth & maturation and its implications on the development of athletes.
Interest in paediatrics.
