An exciting opportunity has become available within the Academy at Watford Football Club. We are currently looking to recruit a PDP Physiotherapist working with the U18 and U23 players. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Academy PDP and the Head of Sports Science and Medicine. Duties will involve organising and implementing the sports science, strength and conditioning, movement analysis, treatment, progressive rehabilitation, medical screening and health/medical education programmes for our PDP players.

The role will be based at the clubs training ground in London Colney and will include working all U23 team games, home and away, including overnight stays. At times this may also extend to the cover of U18 games.

The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a team, be enthusiastic and hardworking, and be flexible to the requirements of the position.

Applicants should ideally live local to Watford/London Colney or the surrounding areas and be UK/EU residents or non-residents with a valid UK work permit.

You must have:
Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP)
BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
Previous experience in the sporting domain, preferably with senior players
Familiarity with musculo-skeletal screening, movement analysis and correction of aberrant motor patterns
Competent in the prescription of strength and conditioning programmes
Valid pitch-side emergency aid qualification (ATMMiF)
An ability to build networks and obtain and manage important information are of huge importance
Full UK driving licence or ability to travel various locations due to the demands of the role
The necessary Disclosure and Barring Service check will apply to this post.

You would ideally have, but not vital:
MSc Physiotherapy or equivalent or working towards MCs
Experience in a Senior Medical role within a Club or with a club of a similar size is vital, as is a comprehensive understanding of the implications of the ‘Elite Player Performance Plan’ legislation.
Knowledge of football medical programme requirements is essential.
Must be able to communicate and interact with a wide range of staff.
Must have the ability to work on own initiative and under pressure.
Must have the ability to develop within the role, learn new skills and deal with change.
Must be highly organized and assertive with strong communication and time management skills.
